Afterwards, on account of its augmentation, and in « order to-make room fbr induftrious readers, at the inftanoe and charge of a benefàétor, - to mr unknown, in the years 169T, 1699, the Bench Chapel hard by the veftry room was fitted as1 a new hall, and has been well united with die old one by breaking, through die partition-wall and terminating it with a large Bow: the outward wall-piHar has* beemftrengthened, and in this- fore part of the hall a new door has been fet up, in'the-choir) over the porch hard by this chapel. After that,, in the year 17 48v the library of the baron von Hund was depofited ia this fofc part of the* hall, and the room over the porch only ramained for readers; fo the prefent Library became at once very confiderable^ and decorated iofide and out with feveral ornamental falfe doors, with the inscription BIBTIOTHSGA PVBLICA, together with the Brefiàu W above it. Laftly, Jo the year 1785, therwalK in* this ^ room were made ufe of aaa ragofâoiy for the Arietftft;Colleétion. The inscription mentioned in the agreement, is engraved on a-copper plate,, with letters erf gold:inlaid;.andas it probably had been at firft affixed to die wall which afterwards was broken -through* the magiftrate, in the year 1698, caufed be ^ d aF to the wall in the fore part of: die hall, on the right-hand fide of the window, together with -the Founder's coat of arms: above it, and hit effigy beneath. It is likewife to be read •lfewhere in print; but as I have copied it accurately,, it belongs properly to this place 8*
