|1E ROGER D'ESPAIGN ANÏ) SIR ËSPAIQN DU LYON, AMBASSADORS FROM THE VlSOOÛNf ' BE CHA8TELBON, PRACTISE SO SUCCESSFU LLV WITH THE COURT OF FRANCE, THAT HE IS DECLARED ÏÎEIK AND SUCCESSOR TO THE COUNT DE FOIX BY LETTERS PATENT FROM THE KING OF FRANCE.
.OIR Roger d'Efpaign and fir Efpaign du Lyon ^ acquitted themfelves handfomely and fuc-cefsfully, in regard to the affairs of the vifcount de Châteaubon. They had many difficulties to overcome with the king and the court, more ef-pecially with the members of the privy council, who had advifed the king to annex the county of Foix tp the crown of France, fince the inhabi-tants were defirous of it. The king was likewife of this opinion, but the duke of Burgundy more wifely oppofed it, and recommended it tot the king to do nothing more than receive back the money
