parafions to fulfil their engagement. This tourna-ment had been proclaimed in many countries, but: efpecially in England, where it had caufed much furprife, and excited feveral knights and fquires, who were fond of -adventures and deeds of arms, to confer on the fubjeft. Some faid they would be blame worthy, if they did not crofs the fca, when the diftance was fo Abort to Calais, pay a vifit to thefe knights and tilt with them. I will name thofe who were tnoft eager in thefe con?erfa-tions.
