SIR JOHN DE VIENNE, HAVING RECEIVED HIS ANSWER FROM THE KING OF CASTILLE, RE-TURNS TO FRANCE.—THE DUKE OF LANCASTER PROCEEDS IN THE MARRIAGE OF HIS DAUGH-TER TO THE INFANT OF CASTILLE.—THE EARL OF ARUNDEL, HAVING MADE SOME CRUI-SES ON THE COASTS OF NORMANDY, RETURNS WITH HIS FLEET TO ENGLAND.
f I iHE admiral of France contiiiued his journey -** until he arrived m Caftille, when he in-quired where the king refided. He was anfwered, € Moft commonly at Burgos,' whither he then rode. Having difmounted at his inn, he made himfelf ready to go to the palace; but as foon as the king's houfehold heard of his arrival, he was vifited by them, moft honourably, according to the cuftom of the country, from their attachment to the king of France, to whom they held them-felves much indebted, and he was conducted to the king's apartment. Sir John was kindly greeted by the king, to whom he gave his letters. The king took them, and called his council afide, when, having read and confidered them^ they found he had full powers given him, and fir John was called and bade to explain the caufe of his coming. He, who was ready prepared, thus fpoke, in handfome language : •
