toille? Accurfed be the expedition. He doe* not, probably, wifh that any Englifhman fhould ever again quit his country to ferve him. * He feems refolved to kick againfï the pricks. He will have his men guard the country he has con-quered; but when they fhall all be dead, who will then guard it ? He fhews but poor know-ledge of war; for,, when he faw that no one came to oppofe him, why did he not make an opportune retreat into Portugal or elfe where, to* avoid the lofTes he mufl now fuffer; for we fha}l all die of the confounded diforder, and without having ftruck a blow/
Sir John Holland was mîch hurt on hearing, fuch language, for the honour of the duke, whofe daughter he had married ; and, as it wat increaling, he determined to remonftrate with him on their Situation, which he could, from hi& connection, more freely do than any other. He therefore addreffed him,—'My lord, you muft immediately alter your plans, for your army is wholly laid up with ficknefs. .
