The king received his excufcs, for he loved Mi archbHhop more than that of Canterbury, and. bore hhn out before the council* otherwife he would haw been heavily ftned : through attention, tci the king* the council admitted his cxcufcs» and be va* M-fared to remain in his diocefe.
