was dinnertime. They were * feated as on the preceding day, and mod fumptuoufly and plen-tifully ferved, accordingly to the cuftom %of that country. After dinner, the king and duke re* turned to their lodgings.
' On the Saturday after mafs, they again mounted their horfes. and returned to Pont de More in grand array. The duke this day entertained at dinner the king and his attendants. His apart* ments were decorated with the richeft tapeftry, with his arms emblazoned on it, and as fplendklly ornamented as if he had been at Hertford, Lei* cefter, or at any of his manfions in England, which very much aftoniihed the Portuguefe. Three biihops and one archbiihop were feated at the upper table j the biihops of Lifton, of Oporto, of Coimbra, and archbifliop of Braganza. The king of Portugal was placed at the middle, and the duke fomewbat below him : a little lower than the duke, the count d'Acunha and the count de Novaire. lit the head of the fecpnd table was the deputy grandmafter of Avis: then the grand-matter of *St. James, in Portugal, and the grand, matter of St. John, don Gallopes Portelet, don Fernando his fon, fir Alvarez d'Acunha, Vafco Martin d'Acunha, the Podich de Senede, Vafco Martin de Merlo, all great barons.
