at the Commencement ; for he fpoke to every one who had any bufinefs with him politely and pru-dently, fo that he was beloved by all. He gave a part of the revenues which the earl of Flanders had in Ghent as his inheritance to the lord de Harzelle, out of affe&ion to him, and to enable him the better to fupport his rank j for he had loft every thing he poffèffed without the walls of the town.
We will now for a time leave thefe affairs of Flanders, and fpeak of thofe of England and Portugal. .

^TOU have before heard related the death of king . Henry of CaftUkyand that his eldeft fon, don John, was crowned in his ftead. His queen alfo, who was daughter to king Peter of Arragon, wa$ crowned with him. A War broke out between king Ferdinand of Portugal and the king of Caftille on certain difputes between them -, but principally on account of the two daughters of Peter king of Çaftille, who were married in England ; the eldeft. Confiance, to the duke of Lancafter, and IfabeUa to the earl of Cambridge. . The king of Portugal . Y 2 declared.
