CIR Thomas Feltbn, who reflde'd at Bouirdeau^ was not at his cafe from knowing that his enemies were but twelve leagues diftarft,' and in fuch numbers that he could not think of oppofing them by force, having alfo learnt the duke of Anjou's fummons and indentions : he had, there-fore^ fent ,information to the king and council in England * but thofe whom he had difpatçhed thither had not been able to do any thing, for the kingdom of England was much fliaken, and dif-ferent parties were'mutually oppofing each other.
The duke of Lancafter, _ in particular, wats un-popular with the common people - from which caufc % much party ariimofity and cjanger* happened • afterwards " in England. Nô mçn ^t arms were fent either to Gafcony or to ferittany ; on which account, thofe who were defending the frontiers for the young king werç very ill pleafed.
