T^HE king of France, during the fummer (1369), A had made great preparations of (hips, barges and other veffels in the port of Harfleur, with the inteift of fending a large force to England, well furnifhed with men at arms, knights and fquires. His brother, the lord Philip, duke of Burgundy, was appointed commander of this army, which was to deftroy all England.
The king of France fixed his refidence in the good city of Rouen, in order to attend more promptly to this bufinefs. He vifited his fleet two or three times every week, to which he fhewed much affe&ion.
