TO KING HENRY OF C AST1LLE.—THE 1RINCK OF WALES SENDS A TARDY ANSWER TO THE KING'S LETTER,
^FTER having conquered the before-named knights,* don Tello and don Sancho returne4 with their detachment in great joy to their ^rmy^ and went in the evening to the quarters of king Henry.
The two brothers who had been in this expedition made a prefent to the king of their prifoners, and related to him, in the prefence of fir Bertrand du Guefclin, fir Arnold d'Andreghen and others, how the day had pafled, and what road they had taken : how they had firft fallen in with the people of fir Hugh Calverley, whom they had flam or chaced even to the army of the Englifli : that they had beaten up the quarters of the duke of Lancafter, alarmed the whole army, and done much mifchief : that upon their retreat they had met thofe knights, whom they had taken prifoners.
King Henry, who had liftened to this account with great pride, replied moft gracioufly to his brother, don Tello, and faid ; c Amiable brother, well have you "performed your promife : 1 will reward you handfpmely for it ; and 1 feel, that all the reft of our enemies muft ultimately come tq this pafs.1
