The king of England, when he bad croffed the Somme, gave thanks to God for it, and began his ftnprch in the feme order as he had done before. He called to him Gobin Agace, gave him his free* dom without ranfont* as well as that of his compa-nions, and ordered the hundred nobles of gold to be given him, and alfo a good horfe. The» king continued his march* thinking to take up his quar-ters at a good and large town called Noyellè*, fituated bard by j but when he was informed that it belonged to the contltefs d'Aumarle* filler to the late lord Robert dàArtois, he fent to affure the in* habitants* as well as all the farmers belonging to her, that they fliould not be hurt. He marched further on ; but his two tnarfhals rode to Crotoy* hear the fee; they took the town, and burnt it tn the harbour they found many fhips, and other veffels* laden with wines, from Poitou, Saintonge and la Rochelle : they ordered the bet to be car* ried to the Engliih army : then one of the marlhals f rifted forward, even as far as the gates of Abbe* ville, tod returned by St. Ricqnier, following the fea~ftore to the town of St Efprit de Ruef.
Thefe two battalions of the marlhals came, on a Friday in the afternoon, %to where the king was;
