ROBERT (addressing himself throughout to the GRAND-COMMAXDER). Couimnndcr ! joy !—I'vo taken tho Tunisian !
COMMANDER. Where wcrt thou nt tho Chapter-hour to-day ?
ROBERT.
Hear you not, then ?—I bring you tho Tunisian !
COMMANDER. Where wort thou at tho Chapter-hour to-day ?
ROBERT.
I was—out in tho forest, watching for Tho tiger, but a better prize I bring !
COMMANDER. Though duty called thee to the Chapter-watch !
ROBERT.
I heard upon my way the turn was mine, But thought—(as the GRAND-COMMANDER I* going to inter-rupt him impatiently) Z
Permit me speech. A substitute Can do this trifling service—often does,— And leaves mo rougher work. So it befell !— Tho news came that tho Turks had anchored. I Could not endure this ; forth I rushed in haste, And six young giants followed where I led. Wo conched ourselves in ambush on tho beach, And soon saw Turks who with their Captain camo Ashore, the fortress to investigate.
