Tho Chaplain Brothers chant, with solemn choir,
Their loud T !• ••, tho Brethren all vacate
Their stalls, and with great joy of heart take up
Their Master, whom thoy reverently !ear
Forth to tho Chapel, placing him in front
Of Christ's High Altar, that the Crucified
May look ujon tho man ordained of Him
To be tho Order's head. Meanwhile intone
Tho pious Chaplains : " Kyrie Kl* i'»
Chritl' KlrisoH, Amen ! Snlrum fae
Serrum I Hum," and so forth, which tho Choir
Divinely echo back. Our Ancient Men
Then seizo tho Master, and enrobe him with
His mantle, then into this Master's Hall
Conduct. Then speaks the Hldest : " In God's name
Hero show I theo tho perfect counterfeit
Of men who have been better men tluvn thou !
And if thou follow them, and, singlo-soulcd,
Display tho Order's banner, thou shall live ;
Hut if not so,—tho Lord will theo forget,
And thy remembrance fado away from us."
Then says tho Master : " As 1 havo sworn to you
My vow I'll keep, so help mo Jesus Christ!—
And these old men, the latchet of whoso shoos
I am liot worthy to unloose, shall all
Accuse mo to my God, e'en as they now
Draw near the Iamb for me with saintly prayers,
If I deal other with you than I said."
Thereon the Marshal three times calls his name,
From every window to the assembled folk.
These things wo uso to do when we elect
A Master. And, thereafter, call this hall
Hall of the Masters.
