Louis VIII. left them to his son Charles, whose brother I .ou is IX. obtained from Henry 111. of Kngland full renunciation of his claims to them. Charles of Anjou, brother of St Louis, became King of the two Sicilies, and afterwards of Naples only t and Charles of Valois, brother of l'hilip IV. (the Fair), obtained from the King of Naples the cession of these pro-«inres, Anjou and Maine.
