When it became jftore public, there were manyjnuri murings in the army j and thofe about the per-fon of the king were exceedingly alamped, for they now faw matters tvere ripe with every, raif-chief and danger to. the king and to. themfelves. Thus did it hap-pen j for numbers of knights and fquifes, who had ferved the king in this campaign, diflembled, and quitted him without taking leave* or faying they were going away. Some retired to their houfes, and others went ftraight to the earl of Derby and joined his army.
