the lord Charles de Blois, and faid to him, c Good nephew, you have had adjudged to you a handfome and great heritage ; make hafte to take poffeffion of it, and conquer it from him. who wrongfully holds it ; and intreat all your friends to aid and affift you in this undertaking. The lord Charles made a profound reverence to the king, and refurned him many,thanks. • all promifed, and fakl they would cheerfully follow tim^ and their lord, the duke of Normandy, with « all the forces they could colleft together. Upon which every one fet off for his own home, to make himfelf ready, and provide properly for the occafion.
