He continues it until the peace of Ghent with the duke of Burgundy, the treaty for which is in the laft chapter but one of this volume, dated the 18th December, 1385. The third volume goes back as far as the year . 1382 inclufively, reciting feveral events, which had been mentioned in the fécond from the 93d chapter to the end. The events of thefe four laft years, which had been already related, are fo much expanded in the third volume, that they occupy the 29 firfl chapters. The reft is employed in the hiftory of the following years to 1389, ending with the truce concluded for three years between France and England, and with the preparations which were making for the entry of queen Ifabella of Bavaria into Paris, of which the author promifes to fpeak more at large. The fourth volume begins with a recital of all the feafts and pageantries appointed for this entry, and ends with the dethroning and death of Richard IL king of England, in 1400, and with the eleâion the fame year of Robert, emperor of Germany. Thefe events terminate the two laft chapters of the whole work. This manner of dividing the hiftory of Froiffart is the fame in all the manufcripts and printed copies ; but thefe divifions do not begin or end at the fame place in all the copies.
