Âs for the furniture of thofe noblemen who did not poflefs a hundred livres a-year, it was to be valued as high as one thoufand livres, and no higher ; and for thofe who were not noble, and had not four todred livres aryear, their furniture was to be va-lued as far as four thoufand livres, that is to fay, at the rate of one hundred livres for every ten livres of rent ; and they were to pay the tax in the man-mer above fpecified. If it fhould happen that any nobleman poffeffed but juft the rental of one bun* dred livres, and his furniture of no higher value than one thoufand livres ; or that any one, not noble, had a rental of four hundred livres, and fur-aiture to the amount of four thoufand livres, then their rentals and furniture fhould be entered to-gether, as high to the nobleman as one thoufand livres, and to others as far as four thoufand livres, and no more. - ' On Saturday, tbe 5th of March 1356, there was mdiffetffionitt the town of Arras, between the higher and lower ranks of inhabitants : the lower fort killed, that day, Seventeen of the higher rank in the town. On the Monday following, they murdered four others, and banifhed many more ; fo that they remained maflers of the town of Arras. CHAP.
