Her sorrowing lord endowed the Abbey of Winchester with rich donations for the perpetual celebration of dirges and masses for her sonl, and waxen tapers were burned about her tomb, till the light of the Reformation outshone the lights of superstition ; but her imperishable virtues sur-vive every monumental device, illume the annals of history, and illustrate the true philosophy of female Heroism.
